DIPLOMA IN PHARMACY (MiCoST)

1) Program Details

The main objective of this program is to ensure optimal and rational drug therapy through the involvement of employees in the process of preparation, distribution and control of pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical products. The Diploma program prepares students to be pharmacists who are knowledgeable in pharmaceutical, pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacy practices so they are ready to enter the market in the pharmaceutical industry, which emphasizes the practical aspects of pharmacy such as Community hospitals and pharmacies. This pharmaceutical field can indirectly produce professional and ethical employees who can create communal responsibility in order to meet the demands of the aspirations of the state. 2) Entry Requirement

SPM with at least three (3) credits

  • Bahasa Melayu
  • Mathematics/Additional Mathematics
  • 1 subject Science

And PASS in English subject.

4) Industry Exposure

Field trips to well-known government organizations, companies and factories including Government Hospital, ‘Hospital Angkatan Tentera’ and other pharmaceutical factory.

5) Pathway to Further Study

Qualified Diploma in Pharmacy holders can apply to pursue for the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.), Health Sciences or Sciences program at other Institute of Higher Educations.

6) Career Prospect

Industry (medicine manufacturing sector), Assistant Pharmacist (PPF) at private hospital/ government clinic, Assistant pharmacist and any pharmacy. Clinic assistant, Assistant Pharmacy Enforcement Officer Quality Control / Drug Manufacturing (Pharmaceutical Industry), Laboratory Assistant (dispensing laboratory), Product executive or product spokesperson in the pharmaceutical industry.
