1) Program Details

The Diploma Computer Science is a program offered to meet the needs of industries where most of them use open source computing systems in an effort to reduce costs in systems and infrastructure development. Courses include in the program include programming, computer networking, open source applications, open source software and current issues as well as the latest technologies on open source computing. Students are also exposed to a well-known operating system such as Linux.

2) Entry Requirement

• PASS Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent with at least credit in 3 subjects including:

• Mathematics

OR

• Pass Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent with at least 1 principal in any subjects and a credit in:

• Mathematics at SPM level

OR

• PASS Certificate in Computing or equivalent with at least CGPA 2.00

OR

• Other equivalent qualifications that are recognized by the Government of Malaysia

• Exposed to well recognize competitions such as System Development Competition, International Collegiate Programming Contest, Code Quest Computer Programming Competition, Website Development Competition and etc.
• Field trips to well-known government organizations and companies including MediaPrima, Durian Tunggal Solution, Amtis Solution, MDEC, Troy ICT Malaysia, and etc.

5) Pathway To Further Study

Students are able to enhance and develop their knowledge and computer skills especially in latest technology for open source  operating system, application and software such as open source desktop and server, open source office application, web development, web server, server side scripting, database, Joomla Content Management System (CMS), DEV C++, project management and open source multimedia. Students will also learn C++ programming, JAVA, multimedia authoring and Android Studio. Thus, they can further their study in Degree in ICT/ Software Engineering/ Cloud Computing Technology/ Information Technology/ Computer Science/ and other suited programmes offer from other IPTS.
